Singulair - blessing or curse?
Singulair,is it a blessing or a curse. It depends on who you talk with about it. If you are an adult who has taken this medication, you may fair very well with it. If you have a child on Singulair, it maybe a totally different story. I have spent the last week reading post after post about children who have been on Singulair and have had major behavioral changes. There have been so many testimonies and unfortunately they all sound too similar to our life for the past 5 years. Reports of depression, tremors, anger, inability to concentrate or sleep, irrational thoughts and actions. Other symptoms including isolation, fear, feelings of failure, paranoia, lack of self esteem have been expressed over and over. And sadly some have taken their lives. It has been torture to watch, unbearable to endure at times, the questions of what could be causing the symptoms going unanswered. Sometimes the children are medicated for other conditions such as bi-polar or ADHD when in reality, all along, Singulair was the cause. But, we are not without hope. From the parents who have been able to take their children off of the medication, without problems from asthma, there have been reports of success, changes, regaining their children, as it were. Smiles, cooperation, peace and calm have replaced the sad, depressed, isolated souls of these little ones. Teens who are beginning to be able to function in school again. I have seen it first hand even after only a week without the little peach pill. If you are one of the lucky ones who can take this medication, and it works for you , be thankful. But for those of us who have spent hours in prayer and in tears, fearful for our children and their mental health, this has been a curse. I have included a link to a website that lists side effects for many medications. This particular one is for Singulair. Read the stories, the accounts of the lives of these children who have two things in common. Unexplainable symptoms and being given Singulair. If you know a mom or dad who have been worried beyond belief over unexplained behavior, who have children on this drug, share the link with them. We are not alone, thank the Lord. I believe this has been an answer to prayer after a long journey through the desert. The doctor says it probably will take six weeks for the medication to be totally out of my child's system. I am already seeing little glimpses of my child regaining the joy of his youth. I am so grateful. |
